In the novel A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines, Grant Wiggins is a Dynamic Character Because, he has been through through alot enough, and now he has to turn a soon to be executed prisoner into a “man". Grant does not want to bare with the fact that people are counting on him to change this man's way of life in the short time he has. However, in a change of heart Grant agrees to help even through he has been stressed with his job as a school teacher and having a complicated relationship with his Girlfriend Vivian, Grant follows through and turns him into a man.

At the Beginning of the novel, Grant is very upset that he has been dragged into a situation that he can't get out of. The situation also affects others around him
