Theatre is a form of art that has been part of our contemporary society since the beginning of time. The purpose of theatre is served for many different aspects of our cultures in ways that entertain, informs and even bring us together. Everything that correlates with theatre always has a purpose or a message. Entertainment is something many people in our contemporary society always seek. Theatre practitioners often encounter the challenge of creating entertaining content to be performed on stage that will capture an audience’s attention. It is a goal for directors and actors to be able to convey a performance that will entertain or serve a purpose for the audience. Many people such as friends and myself will often buy tickets to live shows for entertainment purposes. Although theatre serves entertainment for millions of people, in addition, it is also a platform that is used to bring awareness and informs the society on issues. An example of a play that brings awareness and informs people on issues would be Hamilton The Musical. The musical captures part of the American history and brings awareness to what happened in the past in a way people are interested in. The show is performed on Broadway and is continuing to sell out.
