In Ancient times, people didn't understand the natural world around them. They couldn't comprehend why a natural disaster would happen or why the sun disappeared. People feared the unknown like they feared death. Itś basic human nature to want to find out why these things happened and because of that, the idea of Gods and Goddesses came to. In Ancient Greece, there were many different Gods and Goddesses that people believed in, therefore not one deity existed with ultimate power like some of the main religions today. After his siblings overthrew their father Cronus, they all fought over who would control the big three positions in the world. Those three positions being the sky, water, and the underworld. Hades drew the short straw and became lord of the underworld, a title that no one really wanted. Greedy like most of his family, he was mainly interested in making the size of his kingdom even bigger. He favored anyone who killed people because he gained more souls from them. All the deities were feared some way, but none so much as Hades. The Greek people were never fond of mentioning his name, scared that he would kill them in some way. After all, who wouldn't fear someone who controlled the underworld, a place where everyone went after death? Creatures such as the Erinyes were welcomed guest at his kingdom anytime. They were known as three female goddesses who sought vengeance against anyone who had sworn an oath and broke it or done any evil act. Besides ruling over the dead, he also controlled all riches and wealth in the world. He owned every resources such as gems, gold, and minerals that existed in the ground, because that is where his domain lie.
