There are two different forms of heart failure; heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. A case study was looking at involving a 70-year-old woman with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. She presented to the emergency department with shortness of breath, orthopnea, and swelling of her legs that she experienced for 2 months (Sharma, 2015). Upon examination, it was found that she had a history of hypertension, there were bibasilar crackles on her lungs and bilateral pedal pitting edema. Her blood pressure was 160 over 92 and her pulse was 70 BPM (Sharma, 2015). The way they diagnosed her condition as heart failure with preserved ejection fraction was based upon the ejection
