There are two different forms of heart failure; heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. A case study was looking at involving a 70-year-old woman with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. She presented to the emergency department with shortness of breath, orthopnea, and swelling of her legs that she experienced for 2 months (Sharma, 2015). Upon examination, it was found that she had a history of hypertension, there were bibasilar crackles on her lungs and bilateral pedal pitting edema.
