After watching and reading the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, I realized the film and book have many similarities, but also many differences in the way Henrietta’s story is being told. The film did not elaborate into Henrietta’s childhood; her father not being able to raise her and all her siblings after her mother died and sending them to live with different relatives in Clover, Henrietta and Day were cousins who grew up together in their grandfather’s house, or how Henrietta grew up on working on her family’s tobacco farm. There was no elaboration on how Day would cheat on Henrietta, which caused her to catch an STD.
