Ted Tally’s “Hooters” had its first production in 1978, off-Broadway in New York City. “Hooters” depicts the story of four young adults, Clint, Ricky, Ronda, and Cheryl, whose ages range from ages 19 to mid 20s, in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The play was set in the 1970s and in the middle of the Sexual Revolution – “a social movement that challenged traditional codes of behavior related to sexuality and interpersonal relationships”; it reflects the social changes and acceptance of sex outside the traditional heterosexual, monogamous marriage. Cheryl embraces this sexual freedom and indulges in it whenever possible; whereas, Ronda refuses to conform and remains loyal to the old norms. As for David, he lives for the future, with a stay home wife and children. Both Cheryl and David seem to have a short attention span. It is appears to be an older motel, in need of a cleaning. The geographic location determines its mild and unpredictable temperature.
