In The Scarlet Letter, the religious Puritan group got rid of many types of sin. Sin was shown as abhorrent, having been associated with the demon of hell. Hester Prynne, the fundamental character, was kicked out of her community when she confessed the crime of having sex before marriage. She moved to a Puritan society as we know it and had rules against sex before marriage. Hester was kicked out from her community, with barely any hope left. All through the book, images, for example, the kind lady, the rose bush, and Pearl, Hester Prynne's daughter, are utilized to demonstrate that a community with sin and obscurity, there’s plenty of hope. After Hester abandons her prison cell, she is punished by having to hold her baby with her while she gets made fun of in front of the entire crowd of people. She is in front of individuals who condemn her. This kind lady as what she is know for now, safeguards Hester on two events. The first run through, the ladies of the group were condemning Hester for the wrongdoing she submitted. Rather than joining in their discussion the young lady said to the others, "...let her cover the 'A' as she will, the pain of it will be dependably in her heart." (49) As the scene goes go the kind lady demonstrates her sympathy for the second time, expressing, "Oh, peace, neighbors, peace!" whispered their most youthful friend; "don't give her a chance to hear you! Not a single thread in that weaved letter, but rather she has felt it in her heart." (51) Again, she is the main individual to shield Hester. She gets to be typical of hope that Hester can some time or another come back to an ordinary life where individuals acknowledge her as a feature of the group and where they don't pass judgment on her, a spot where she is no more detached from the world around her.
