How Did Christopher Columbus Technology

The late 1400s brought a lot of change to the world with the discovery of the New World. Columbus played a big role into this for he was the first to discover the new land. However, the 1500s was not a time that had many technological advances. Columbus found the New World believing it was India, if he had the correct technology and inventions his voyage would have been safer and easier. Technologies from the present would have helped Columbus have safer and quicker trips to the New World.
Although Columbus found the new world, his intention was to land in India. Several technologies that are now taken for granted would have helped Columbus tremendously on his travels. Such technologies include the global positioning system (GPS). The GPS would have made sure Columbus landed where he had originally planned.

Disease spread quickly, especially amongst a ship, so death was an issue during Columbus’s travels. A discovery that would have been of great benefit would be the vaccine or any type of medicine. This would have caused less death among not only Columbus’s ship, but also among the Native Americans. Furthermore, many died not only from disease but from the lack of fresh food. To avoid spoilage the need of a refrigerator would end this problem. These medical advances would have helped the health and safety of the crew and of Columbus.
These advances, both technological and medical, would have greatly helped Columbus on his travels because it would have lessened death and made travel safer and faster. These advances, however, would have changed the course of history. Columbus may have gotten to India which would allow for someone else to discover the new world. Although these helpful tools would have been a great thing to have, the way Columbus discovered the New World is still influencing the world
