Frederick Douglass is a historical figure who changed the world. He was one of the many people who fought for the rights of others. Douglass, not only fought the rights of the slaves but he also fought for women’s rights. He mother was a slave, and his father is unknown. He was an author in 19th Century who based his books on the life of slave. Many didn’t believe someone with little education can write such a successful book. For slaves the right to learn and have an education was forbidden. Learning new things gave Douglass the courage to fight his rights. In order to escape Baltimore, Douglass chose to hide his identity. It was around the age of 20 when he was finally able to escape. He also went overseas to avoid getting captured again. Anna Murray, Frederick’s wife, was of the many people who supported him in the escape. To give everyone their freedom back Federick fought in the war but also talked to both Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. He met Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War. It was hard enough to give them back their freedom as well talking to the President of the United States. After meeting Lloyd Garrison abolitionist leader became his mentor. They soon drifted apart. Every challenge he went through was difficult but he didn’t care. If he fell, he would get right back up. His goal was to give slaves back their freedom. He was committed to that goal. He wouldn’t stop over a small thing.
