The minister was once a good reverent man but his decision to sin made him evil in god’s eyes; If the public were to find out about his sin he would be seen as wretched in the public eye as well. Mr. Dimmesdale decided to keep his sin a secret, but refusing to confess his sin was eating away at him and causing him to be miserable. Mr. Dimmesdale was born good and his choices lead him on the wrong path causing him to become evil.
