Over 150 years ago, Black people were not allowed to have any rights and were seen as less than the average person due to their enslavement. Being beaten, hanged, and even killed placed a huge detriment on the African as well as the African American population. The elimination of slavery was just one of the many obstacles that Black people were forced to cope with. To fast forward 50 years after, segregation played as a factor in the dehumanizing of Black people.From being blasted with water hose, beaten by police officers and bitten by dogs for just being themselves, African Americans were still able to prosper and thrive. This occasion was never the intent of America as they constantly oppressed Black people and constantly allowed White people
