During 1939 to 1945, the world as a whole experienced the second most mass destructive and catastrophic war that graced this planet. One of the important reasons as to why there was so many casualties and collateral damage, was mainly due to the introduction of new war militia. This list included the Type 96 Machine Gun, M1 Carbine Rifle, Browning Automatic Rifle, Arisaka bolt action rifles, new aircrafts, artillery, surgical advancements, espionage, and many more dramatic feats. But, one of the main reasons why World War II proved to be very detrimental was due to the introduction of strategic bombing. During World War II, urban centers and cities were bombed left and right. In the process, The British and Americans used Strategic Bombing to target industrial cities in Germany, Japan, and Italy to further guarantee their victory in the war. However, there is an important question to ask about the necessity of all these bombings. Was The United States and Britain justified in the aerial bombing of German and Japanese cities during World War II? No, they were not necessary at all in achieving our victory in the war. On March 9, 1945, U.S aircrafts dropped approximately 2,000 tons of incendiary bombs on Tokyo over the next 48 hours. In result, 16 square miles around the capital were incinerated, and over 130,000 Japanese civilians were killed in the worst firestorm recorded in history (1).
