Throughout the 18 and the 19th Century, Europe would host a series of political and social movements that would reshape the governmental structures throughout Europe and eventually the rest of the World. This new age of revolution was fueled by the ideas of prominent Enlightenment figures like John Locke. Some of these ideas can be seen today, for example, the constitution of United States. Locke authored the most influential theory of an egalitarian government system in his Second Treatise on Civil Government , an idea that sits at heart of the Constitution of the United States, he argues that people are entitled to preserve their rights to life, liberty and property. This idea of a nation ruled by the people echoed throughout the French Revolution.
