Theodore Roosevelt: A Politician and Advocate for Conservation.

Many only know Theodore Roosevelt as a former President of the United States (U.S.). However, Roosevelt was much more. He accomplished a wide range of influential tasks, from politics to war tactics, even conservation. He was a largely known political figure even before his presidency. Even with these many accomplishments, he still gave himself time for recreational activities such as swimming and hiking. Theodore Roosevelt was an extraordinary man who accomplished many phenomenal achievements throughout his life, persevering through many adversities. Roosevelt always found time for physical activities such as swimming, hiking, and riding horses (Milkis, n.d.). As a young kid he had private teachers that would tutor him at home (Milkis, n.d.). Roosevelt loved to live an active life filled with thrills and adventure. During the late 1860’s and early 1870’s, he and his family traveled through much of Europe and the Middle East and even lived with a host family in Germany for nine months (Milkis, n.d.). In 1876, Roosevelt entered Harvard College where he studied a plethora of subjects including natural history, forensics, German, zoology, and composition and continued his physically active lifestyle by also taking up wrestling and boxing (Milkis, n.d.). During college, Theodore Roosevelt met his first wife and he vigorously continued his passions even through tragic events. In 1880, Roosevelt graduated from Harvard and entered Columbia University Law school (History.com Editors, 2022).
