How Does Ikemefuna Influence Okonkwo

Recently in the reading of “Things fall apart” Okonkwo’s life was shaken up. A murder took place in his village and he ended up with a boy from the offending village. At first Okonkwo wasn’t happy with receiving Ikemefuna (the boy) but he began to grow fond of him. Ikemefuna influenced Okonkwo’s son Nwoye greatly. Nwoye was a disappointment to Okonkwo, he did not enjoy doing masculine things, he enjoyed all things feminine. When Ikemefuna came along and started telling masculine stories, along with doing other things, it influenced Nwoye. Ikemefuna being around shifted Nwoye towards masculine behaviors. Later on, an elder decided that Ikemefuna will be killed in punishment of the crime committed against the village. He expects Okonkwo to follow
