For my science project I decided to combine science with my love of music. Music is my happy place listening to music can make me loosen up if I’m mad or sad. If I’m already happy it just makes me happy even more. For my project I wanted to find out how some of the genres of music I (and my parents listen to) affects my heart rate. I did use myself for this project, I didn’t have the patience to do this on one of my family members.

Before I started my project I thought that metal music affected your heart rate the most. The reasoning being was because metal music makes me tense up, so I thought that it would make my heart rate raise. After I collected my data I found that pop music affected your heart rate the most. This therefore indicates that my hypothesis was incorrect.54

From the results of the experiment, there is a direct relationship between my independent variable (which was ‘The genre of music’), and my dependent variable (which was ‘What genre of music affects your heart rate the most?’).
