Andrew Jackson became the 7th president of the United States of America in 1829-1837.He was born on March 15,1767 in the waxhaws region between North Carolina and South Carolina. He was born 3 weeks after his father’s death at the age of 29. Andrew had 2 older brothers named Hugh and Robert Jackson. At the age of 13, Jackson and his older brother Robert fought in the Revolutionary war in 1779. His intelligence and ambition later led him into politics where he eventually became the president. As he became the president, Andrew did many contentious things but was admired from a lot of citizens and other people in the process. While some of his motives were questionable, Jackson was an effective president that was highly influential while impacting and benefiting the country with his ideas and expansion of democracy. …show more content…

Later in 1779, Andrew’s oldest brother Hugh died in the battle of Stono Ferry.At the age of 13, Jackson joined the military as a patriot courier alongside his brother Robert. In 1781, Andrew and his brother were captured by the british were Andrew received a permanent scar by a british officer. The british officer slashed his face with a sword and left a cut on his left hand. Later in the imprisonment, both boys contracted smallpox. Later, their mother made a an exchange for her sons to be released by the british authorities. Shortly after being released Robert died of smallpox and shortly after Robert died their mother died of cholera contracting it while she nursed sick and
