It was the fall of 1997 where my whole world was turned upside down and my life was changed forever. I remember it like it was yesterday It all started when I was sitting in ninth period History class waiting for the bell to ring. I sat there staring at the clock, I was completely focused on the second hand as it slowly went tick tock from one second to the next. I was fixed into a long gaze that could not be broken by anything, not even my teacher as he called my name to answer his question. I ignored him completely and stayed fixated on the clock as he repeated himself several times, Finally he yelled as loud as he could,” Veda, get your heads out of the clouds and answer my question! I finally reached my locker grabbed my book bag and headed for the nearest exit. It didn’t really register in my mind that Tomorrow was thanksgiving until I walked out the doors of Greg High School and made my way home. My eyes filled with joy as I imagined how tomorrow would pan out. I Imagined how I could make my 14th Thanksgiving the best Thanksgiving ever. As I went through every scenario I could possibly think of in my head I felt a giant, cold, crisp gust of wind blow that seemed to blow straight through my body. I clutched my coat as it was flapping in the wind and crossed my arms trying to block the wind. At that moment I looked around and saw several dozen leaves full of vibrant colors skid across the road towards an old run down house on the other side of the street. As the leaves crossed the halfway point in the road they seemed to go from gorgeous shades of red, yellow and orange to one dull, dead shade of brown. They led their way to the yard of the decrepit house where an old lady sat in a wooden rocking chair rocking back and forth with a sign that said,” 20 pound turkeys just $10”. The leaves seemed to separate into two sections and went on either side of the woman, not a single leaf touched her. I thought this was eerie enough, but on closer inspection the lady seemed to have some dried
