When I think about thanksgiving I imagine a family surrounding a big table covered in fall season décor. Everyone laughing and smiling , eating , The chilly air outside and the oddly colored leaves already fallen on the ground , older siblings and family lined up outside to play the annual thanksgiving football game that never ends well and a loving mother in the kitchen making sure that everything is prepared right and everyone is enjoying themselves and did I mention setting up the Christmas tree after everyone went home . Well that’s what I imagined , This is the story about my thanksgiving that changed my life

She sat the bowl down and I began to throw in the ingredients as she called them out as she was preparing the turkey for the oven . The table was somewhat wobbly I noticed but I continued to mix .On the other side of the death bridge my mom viciously rubbed in all of the seasonings on to the turkey. The next thing that happened taught me a valuable lesson about Thanksgiving . I heard a cracking noise everything around me slowed down and before I could say anything to my mom. The legs on the right side of the table gave out ! The mixing bowl the seasonings that my mom was viciously rubbing in, the TURKEY all slid off of the table and hit the cold tile kitchen floor . My mom fell to the floor in disbelief and began to cry . When I looked up my dad, little brother and big sister were all standing at the entrance of the kitchen with their jaws locked and also disbelief in their eyes. At that very moment I realized something that would change my life forever . Thanksgiving is not about the intangible things . Its about the laughs being with your family and just enjoying each others company because when you think about it the memories that you make with your family that is what’s really going to count . You will be able to look back on the memories and laugh . Just like my family and I do when we tell others about the time we found out what thanksgiving was really all
