I really enjoyed the video we watched in class this week. The video informed me about some things that I was not aware of. Some of the things I learned from the video is that African people and people of African descent are magical because we have been able to live in a world filled with injustice, and still rise up to greatness without any help. I also learned the symptoms of PTSD, which include, having a feeling of a shortened future, hypervigilance, lack of sleep, and outburst of anger. These symptoms helped me understand why some black people behave this way.
I liked how she talked about the social learning theory, which talks about how people learn from the people in the environment they are in. This social learning theory got me thinking about segregation in America. Blacks live in …show more content…
This meant that I had to re-read the books and articles that we have covered in class. I normally like to write a paper in just one sitting but this time it was different. I found myself frustrated and exhausted by all the discrimination I had faced and injustices I have seen happen to other people. Re-reading some of those books took me back to the first few weeks in class when I was constantly exhausted at how the American society treats black people. Furthermore, I am currently taking a course in immigration theology and Ethics. In this class, I am learning about the issues and injustice that immigrants face, which are numerous. No human beings should be treated the way immigrants are treated. To make matters worse, with the new ban against refugees that has been implemented by President Donald Trump, I find myself even more disappointed at this country. I believe that black Americans should advocate for immigration policy because at least, they know how it feels to live in an oppressed society. My mind is exhausted and I can’t wait to graduate, as this gets me closer to my purpose which is to help
