The first four chapters of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was an indirect introduction to the characters and their feelings in the story. Huckleberry, a teenager, and Tom, have found 12,000 dollars in a cave in the last book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and gave it to the bank to hold. Huck returns to live Widow Douglas and her sister, Miss Watson to join Tom’s band of robbers. The Widow teaches Huck about Christianity, talking about Moses and making him pray before each meal. The hairball tells that Huck should avoid the water, as that was where he was going to die. Jim retells this to Huck. Huck walks up to his room, and he finds Pap in it. The first four chapters were honestly really interesting, especially because it was told from a voice, rather than read from me. Every chapter’s end was a great and tense cliffhanger. For example, chapter four ended with Pap being in Huck’s room. Although I am currently thirteen years old, the unique decisions of Tom, Huck, and Jim are really hilarious. Jim’s fortune-telling hairball that demanded money for telling fortunes was quite weird. I really like how the book’s chapters are short and at the same time, detailed to the maximum.
