Hi, I’m Dexter the turkey! I’m here to rant about Thanksgiving, a deadly holiday for us turkeys; a holiday which Americans enjoy. More than 45 million turkeys are cooked and eaten on Thanksgiving by Americans. That’s one sixth of all turkeys sold in the United States each year! That’s a lot of turkeys! A young turkey is called a fryer, sixteen weeks old, or a roaster, five to seven weeks old. These are the most common age for turkeys to be snatched up and taken into captivity to be prepared for the holiday. We have to eat certain things like corn and soybean meal also a supplement of vitamins and minerals. We can’t eat whatever we want like wild turkeys!
