Dilemmas that organizations may face when dealing with regulatory issues could prove to be costly to the business. Some of the potential problem that could come up from not meeting regulatory standards may be paying penalties for the occurrences may be an expensive undertaking. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) tend to impose their will and have been known to overstep their authority when it comes to doing inspections (Borden & Cooper, 2002). Loss of customer base may come from a loss of trust in the organization, products or services provided. This may also increase turnover rates of the organization. When serious issues are addressed from many past instances, it has caused many high-level executives to lose their jobs. In some cases, serious regulatory issues may cause a part or even the whole organization to be shut down. He has heard the rhetoric of the OSHA impact on his colleagues’ business and hopes to keep the same thing from happening to him. It seems through him and his wife diligence they have tried to align their policies with OSHA immediate standards (Borden & Cooper, 2002). It has been emphasized, by staying up to date with the current safety standards you have are able to provide a safe working environment for employees and protect your business from fines (Chao, 2014). Now that Jay is aware of the forthcoming inspection, he should prepare to let them inspect his facilities.
