This is an image of Judith Beheading Holofernes. It is a story from the bible in which a general, named Holofernes, sent out by King Nebuchadnezzar was tasked with the conquest of Israel. In order to save her people Judith seduces the general, and while she is in his quarters she decapitates him. This painting embodies the ideas of the renaissance through its focus on realism and classicism. One aspect in which this painting is realistic is its lighting. The room has one light source and the shadow design is very good. Another aspect of this painting that is realistic and disturbing is the looks on the peoples faces.
