A large theme explored in the books Just Mercy and Accountable is one of injustice towards minorities and the consequences that come as a result of it. To further describe this, a significant connection between the two is how all sides of the story are portrayed. Accountable explores a racist social media account and the effects it has on those playing roles of the harmed and the harmers. It is a roller coaster of struggles as authoritative figures, whether it be teachers or judges, attempt to determine how to deal with the situation to the best of their ability.
