On March 24 of 2017, Trump and his administration approved the Keystone XL pipeline which was ejected by Obama (Elise Labott and Jeremy Diamond, 2017). The terrible consequences of this decision didn’t take too long to happen. After 8 months, on November 17, the Keystone Pipeline spilled 210,000 gallons of oil in South Dakota (Mayra Cuevas and Steve Almasy, 2017). This is a huge amount of oil, it took around two months to recover and clean the territory from the 16,800 gallons spill that happened earlier this year (Mayra Cuevas and Steve Almasy, 2017). However, the spill that happened few weeks ago is around 13 times the amount of an oil which might take more than two years to completely cleanup from the Keystone Pipeline territory. These people make it look as if nothing terrible happened and there is no point to be concerned even though it will kill thousands of fishes, birds and some people might be left without clean water. For me, personally, it is not understandable how people can be so careless about this problem when it is obvious how greatly it effects the environment. This is only one spill of thousand others that happened throughout the years and it feels like it became normal to see the articles about the oil being accidentally spilled. The government is doing an extremely good job in suppressing such accidents and making people feel that there is nothing to worry about. However, there is a lot to worry and one great reason for that is that oil extractions highly contribute to the greenhouse effect which is the main reason of the climate change (Gabriella Demczuk & Larry W. Smith, 2017). As Keystone XL has one of the largest oil resources in the world, there is no wonder why Trump tried so hard to approve
