The Palace of King Minos of Crete The ancient architecture is part of our world history and ties with the core aspect of our history. The era of ancient Greek civilization was era of discovering culture, religion, beliefs, society, politics, inventions and most importantly architecture. The material used to make the palace can be seen in picture as natural material, gypsum plaster walls painted colorfully, as well as columns with abacus on the of every column top to support the ceilings. In the picture above, there still a component of the palace still intact and looks like a part of the main entrance stairway. Also on those exterior columns foundation, you can see that they have plastered on the exterior side. The truth, no one yet know, and there might more hidden that could tell us about the palace, but for now we can still establish that the palace was built through thorough understanding of its need and use. The palace is structurally stable, but due to seismic activities on the island can cause it fall down as it not as advanced as we structurally built buildings nowadays. Lots of speculation can be made about how it was built and the real purpose of the way it was built, but one thing was clear that they adapted many skills and habits form nearby living empire through trading between them as depicted through the making of the columns and abacuses as well as the picture drawn on the walls and ceilings same as Egyptians.
