Life can be easy but it's not always fair, we often go through many trials in our lives. With these hardships and dangers we learn to accept our responsibilities and can improve ourselves many people believe that actions speak louder than words by they have a similar impact. The things we say play a great part in how our lives are seen from others perspectives. In the movie “Labyrinth” by Jim Henson we see many characters accept the consequences of their words and actions and improve themselves. The themes of personal responsibility of our actions and words as well as self-improvement are shown through the characters, as well as the movie elements in the “Labyrinth”.

With Sarah we see a large sense of the responsibility acceptance because she accepts that she has to get her brother back and that she has to do some things on her own. The very first sign of Sarah accepting the responsibility of her actions is at the beginning of the movie when Jareth takes Toby away to the goblin city. She instantly says, “I want my brother back,” and “I didn’t mean it” (Labyrinth). When Jareth tells her that she only has thirteen hours to collect her brother from his castle she immediately sets off to face the labyrinth. Sarah is able to overcome the dangers and push onward with a single minded determination in order to save her brother. Another scene that shows Sarah accepting the responsibility of correcting her ill spoken wish and saving her brother takes place in the ballroom dream. In this dream created by a daze inducing peach, Sarah is in a fantasy that she only dreams about. Being in an elegant ballroom, dressed in a beautiful gown and dancing with a mysterious king. Even though she was literally in her dreams she was still able to break free of the dream trap and continue in her journey to save her
