The Light In The Forest is about a character named True son or John Butler. He was stolen by Indians when he was little. Usually Indians take whites when a son dies. When you go over to the Indian tribe, they say they take the white blood out of you, and put in Indian blood. Some people, like True son, believe that they are Indian, and will never go back to the whites. But his father, Cuyloga, makes a deal with the whites, that he will give back all white prisoners, in order to make peace between whites and Indians. So True son has to go back to the whites. When he gets back to Paxton, he doesn’t change over to a white man just like that. He still acts like an Indian, and thinks like an Indian. He ends up escaping from the whites with his cousin, Half Arrow, and goes back to the Indians. Then they were going to ambush one of the boat, but then True Son told them to get out of here. In the end he goes back to the whites, and decided he wants to be a white man.

Some of the things that were the same about the movie and the book are that True son goes back to Paxton with Del Hardy, the man who translates him to the whites. Second is that when he was marching back to Paxton, he tried to eat the root of the

Next was when they were riding their horses back to the house, It didn’t show or say anything about True Son jumping off his horse into the water. Third is that in the movie, Del has to help him bathe. It didn’t really talk about this in the book because it really wasn’t an important detail but it was a difference from the book. In the movie True Son taught his mother some Lenni Lenape, and his mother taught him English. In the movie, True Son didn’t have a brother at all. In the book he had a brother named Gordie. In the movie, there is a girl named Shenandoah who works for his Uncle
