A dream is essential to the purpose of life. A dream helps allow motivation and give a person the mindset to move forward in life. There are many obstacles to overcome when a person sets forth for a dream. An example is the life of Walter Lee Younger in A Raisin in the Sun. Walter Lee Younger wishes to pursue his career of a liquor store and becoming rich but the limitations that prevent that are the fact that he is an African American in the decade of 1950 and that he has to take sole responsibility of his own family and care for them. It prevents Walter a lot from achieving his ambitious goals, but throughout A Raisin in the Sun, Walter eventually gives up on himself and does not decide to take responsibility in his actions or his family
