Louis Riel was arguably one of the greatest heros in Canadian History, although his legacy is complicated. Riel noticed the Metis struggles and sought justices and reconciliation for his people. He led two resistances against the government of Canada and its first Prime Minister, John A. Macdonald, resulting in him being a convicted traitor and hanged.
