What community are you apart of, or are you apart of any community? A community can help you or hurt you; it can be good or bad for you. In the story, The Outsiders there are two communities, “The Greasers” and “Scos”. The two groups can work together or work against each other in life. Also, the Greasers and the Scos have good and/or bad influence within each group. These two groups in ‘The Outsiders” show loyalty, love, and influence towards one another. In The Outsiders, each group shows loyalty toward one another in many ways. The Greasers and Scos have to have loyalty for their community. Loyalty is a point of pride, honor, and principle for Greasers and Scos, They're loyal to each other because they know each other well, have grown up together, and have faced hard times together. The people in their groups influence others by helping them make choices. The members of the Greasers made more choice in the story. For example, when Ponyboy starts feeling less trapped, it was Darry who influenced him to weigh his choices before making a decision that included choices of violence vs. nonviolence. Bob (A Scoc) was influenced by his surrounding and chose to drink which caused him to lose control of himself, and he started a rumble with Ponyboy and Johnny. Then, Bob was killed by Johnny which caused Johnny and Ponyboy to have the decision to run away or turn themselves in to the fuzz. The final decision was determined when they ran to Dally who influenced them to run away and hide. Finally, The Outsiders present the importance of a community. The Greaser and Socs were communities that shows loyalty, love, and influence towards one another in their groups. People like to feel like they belong, and that is what this book
