In the film Lure of Empire the acting, scripting, and costumes are amazing. This short video is a great recreation of what happened as America debated imperialism. I believe their performance was very good and probably the best, The actors portrayed those men flawlessly and the set was designed to the highest degree. From the the ship scene to the Bishop talking to President McKinley. Now to the actual content, I don’t completely believe or support some of these arguments just like everything in history, not everyone is going to agree. That argument most likely persuaded the people in the courtroom as they clapped and cheered because they all have this same vision. But as I said the acting is very good , as it affected me personally. This video like all videos has it flaws and bias is one of them. The video is more bias because the some people only use evidence that supported only one side and not the other. Like the first witness the bishop. He uses god as as a reason for the U.S to commit evil crimes just like everything else. When we all know the bible didn’t make it okay for these things by using the statement, “in the name of god”. President McKinley later uses this same excuse. Later on the narrator in the actual video suggests the the Filipinos are “little brown brothers and sisters” which a very offensive label. The fact that the bias wasn’t purposely intended as this was the thought process of the time is just outrageous to me. The racism and ignorance during this time was just unbelievable. Personally I believe that the U.S didn’t have to annex the Philippines. The U.S could’ve used Cuba since they already helped free them from Spain for trade. This video is also very amazing because it historical and being so that some issues are still relevant
