Barbie Doll In the poem Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy the writer is describing how a normal girl is raised like every other but during puberty she becomes shaped by other’s comments. Moreover, despite being healthy fit and intelligent “she went to and fro apologizing” and people saw her as” a fat nose on thick legs” (Piercy 02) thus not taking into account her inner qualities but her physical appearance. Growing up she offers her inadequate appearances and she ends her life and perceived as pretty in the eyes of everyone after death because she was covered with makeup. The expectations mentioned in stanza 3 of the poem concern how women are shaped constantly by society wanting them to act with shyness,
