King's “Letter from Birmingham Jail” was related to Thoreau's “Civil Disobedience” because by acting calm but strong headed you are able to protest things you don't think are fair for society. The feel of these two stories is completely different, but have the same all around meaning. While Martin Luther King sounds calm, exonerating, and what not; the opening paragraph is proving right there how educated and wise he is.
