Abstract
This paper explores the history of Mayo Clinic in Rochester and how Albert Lea and Austin became part of the Mayo Clinic. This paper also explains the future of Mayo and their mission and vision statements and also how I feel that my internship at Mayo Clinic in Albert Lea will benefit me as a Health Unit Coordinator.

The Background and History of Mayo Clinic Dr. William Worrall Mayo settled in Rochester, MN, in 1863. He had two sons that followed in his footsteps and became doctors too. They joined his dedication to medicine in 1883 and 1888. As the practice grew and they asked other doctors and scientific researchers to join them in creating a different kind of practice that served to find different approaches to medicine. Patients loved the idea to have many opinions that were put together to help them diagnose or treat them. This became popular because of doctors’ dedication to work as a team and this influenced the whole world.

This helped them to get a better feel and an education for the future of their practice of medicine. People from all over the world to this day come to Mayo Clinic to get treated for their ailments. This hospital is one of the world’s best known hospital for successful treatments and care. The major locations include Rochester, MN, Arizona, and Florida.
