Assassination: Just or Crime?
Assassination is either the just or unjust killing of someone who is influential in history; Medgar Evers is an example this. Medgar Evers played a significant role in the Civil Rights Movement, which made him a big target to death threats and attempted assassinations. According to Poinsett, “Reopening of Case Interest in Medgar Evers,” Medgar Ever once stated, “I’m looking to be shot, anytime I step out of my car,” “Everywhere I go someone has been following me” (62). Evers was right, weeks later- in 1963- he was shot outside of his house in Mississippi while his family was waiting for him inside his home (Vollers, 128). The assassination of Medgar Evers was a crime because he was an influential leader for the
