Miles Goodyear was born February 24, 1817, and died November 12, 1849.Miles Goodyear ranged across the Rocky Mountains, which is Ogden Valley today. He was a mountain man, and loved to fur trade. Goodyear wrote a letter to his brother that he did not have his fortune yet, and he still owns his property, horses, beaver and $2,500. The fur trade actually declined when he needed it the most. One of Goodyear’s accomplishments was he went to fort Sutter. He also followed the Donner party to the Wasatch Mountains. He wanted to profit from also being of service to overland immigrants.
