I would tell him that they would never know exactly what happened to her, because she is dead. Only Alaska knows her inner thoughts, and she cannot share them with anybody anymore. Pudge’s grades were dropping because of his search for what Alaska was thinking about before she died. I would tell Pudge that it was useless to let his grades suffer because of something he will never find out. This would’ve made Pudge realize that he has to let go of Alaska earlier, and it may have saved some of his grades. Pudge would’ve spent less time worrying about that night, and more time worrying about his schoolwork. At the end of the book, Pudge does realize that he has to stop worrying about Alaska.
