In A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, Meg Murry, her little brother, Charles Wallace and their new friend, Calvin O’Keefe go on a journey to retrieve their father, Dr. Murry from Camazotz where IT, an evil dark thing, is holding him captive. Three abnormal beings, Ms. Which, Ms. Whatits, and Ms. Who are their leaders and chaperones on this expedition. They travel by tessering in time and in space. They go from planet to planet and eventually they get to Camazotz, where they have to separate with the three beings and continue on their own. The beings give them gifts to help them on the rest of their journey. Mrs. Whatsit does not really give them gifts. Who gives Meg her magical glasses, she gives Charles a quote from Goethe, and she gives Calvin an exerpt from Shakespeare's "The Tempest". Mrs. Which does not give gifts to the children. She tells them to go down into the town and to stay strong together. Mrs. Whatsit tells Calvin to take care of Meg. She also tells Charles Wallace that he will be the most vulnerable on Camazotz. The three children leave their paranormal companions, and they walk into the town. When they get to Camazotz, their first impression of the city is that it is a friendly place. It looks just like Earth, the beings there look like humans, and they all act like humans and they have the same jobs there as on Earth. But in reality, in Camazotz, everything is controlled by IT in the CENTRAL Central Intelligence. Everything is exactly the same, all the people are exactly the same, and if somebody disobeys IT’s rules, they get reprocessed. The children decide to go to the source of IT, which is at the CENTRAL Central Intelligence. When they get there, IT takes over Charles Wallace’s mind and his actions. Meg and Calvin try to help him escape the grips of IT, but they do not succeed. They continue on their own, and they free Mr.
