Have you ever risked your life to get something you wanted? 12 year old Meg lost her father and will risk anything to go save him and bring him back home. Madeleine L'Engle's book A Wrinkle in Time is about meg and her long and grueling journey to find her father. Her father disappeared 2 years ago and meg is going to find him. With help from Charles Wallace, her brother, and Calvin O’Keefe the 3 kids learn to tesser (wrinkle) time, and eventually meet Meg's father. The theme of A Wrinkle in Time is fight until you get what you want.
One example of when Meg fights until she gets what she wants is when the 2 boys want to turn back and never go into the town. The 3 kids are on the way to find father when they are told, by three trusted women, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, that they must go to planet Camazotz where he is located. Upon arrival they realized Camazotz is not a normal planet, everything is in sync. The Dark Thing is trying to take her father. Meg will not let that happen she will fight for him. When she sees her father trapped in a column strapped to a chair, she knows she must do something she must save him. As she runs to reach him she is stopped by an invisible wall separating her and her father. She must think of a way to reach him. Then she remembers, she was given a pair of glass by Mrs. Who to use as a last resort. She knows this is a last resort situation and takes the glasses out of her pocket and puts them on. In that moments Charles Wallace's is running at her, “ Meg kicked at Charles Wallace and flung herself into the column.” She was with father.
