I do not believe that nationalism is the main cause of World War One, I feel that imperialism, militarism, assassination, and alliances play the same role as nationalism in World War One. I believe this because of the concepts and points that imperialism, militarism, assassination, and alliances attributed to the start of World War One. Nationalism was a key cause to World War One but, so are imperialism, militarism, assassination, and alliances. Imperialism is the practice of extending power, control or rule by on country over areas outside the borders. Imperialism contributed to World War One in many ways, for example Great Britain, France, and Germany used Imperialist policies to expand their power and influence. Militarism contributed to World War One in multiple ways but, the most important is the “Arms Race.” The “Arms Race” is a competition between two or more parties to have the best armed forces. Russia, Germany, Serbie, France, Austria-Hungary, and Great Britain competed in this to get the best army.

Assassination is the murder of a prominent person or political figure usually by a surprise attack. This is one of the biggest reasons for the start of World War One. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the first step towards the start of World War One. This caused Austria-Hungary to declare war on Serbia and Russia backed up Serbia and Germany backed up Austria-Hungary.

Alliances are a union or association formed for mutual benefit. This was what really launched the war because of all the alliances that in Europe. With Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia, Russia backed up Serbia and Germany backed up Austria-Hungary. This brought in all the other countries that had treaties and alliances with Austria-Hungary, Germany, Serbia, and Russia. All of these alliances are what made it a world
