Do students know the history behind the Native American mascots of their schools/ universities? Going to schools that have Native Americans as their mascots helps you understand the history behind their culture. Also, it applies to the students that go to that school when they go to Oak Grove in Hattiesburg, Ms. They have classes named after tribes. Plus they have rules named after the mascot like “warrior way”. These rules are set for the students to act honorably, respectfully, kindly, and as leaders like Native Americans.

Native Americans should be used in sports. It plays a big role in the sports world at all levels, high school, college, and professional. The Native American Mascot has a special meaning behind it in sports. Braden Lloyd of Mukwonago High School stated “I always felt like the mascot just resembles the pride, honor, and courage we have.” He also added that when they touch the painting of their mascot they give them luck and strength before they take the field for a home game. The mascot teaches the young people to have pride and honor and in life to have good morals.

Frank loves and supports the nickname Fighting Sioux; he thinks the name is related to pride. Also, it states that “Wisconsin, with one of the largest Native American populations in the country, is the only state that is allowed to pass a law.” This shows they want their culture to be represented the right way They should let all schools keep the mascot, not just the one with their culture keep
