Night “The impact of the Holocaust on believers as well as unbelievers, on Jews as well as Christians, has not yet been evaluated. Not deeply, not enough” (Elie Wiesel). The memoir, “Night”, was written by Elie Wiesel and published in 1956. “Night” is an autobiography based on Eliezer's life during the Holocaust. Losing his mother and sister on the first day in the camp. Almost losing his father, Elie does every possible thing he could to keep him and his father alive. There are three quotes from the novel that are significant and poignant. One significant quote is about Elie’s lost of religion. He lost his faith in God when everything with the Holocaust, separation from his family and witnessing many deaths happened. “…Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to ashes…” (32). The two quotes are, “I remember that I found the soup excellent that evening…” (60) and after seeing the hangings, “ That night the soup tasted of corpses” (62).
