Nikola Tesla’s many accomplishments have affected the world that we live in today. Although most of his work was done in the United States his reach was much further than just the U.S. His inventions ended up all over the globe. Tesla was a Wizard with electricity, or that's at least what he was known as. One of the many pioneers of electrical engineering, Tesla was known for his vast knowledge of the world of electricity. Some even say he knew more than his predecessor, Thomas Edison. He was willing to take risks with one of the most dangerous elements known to man. Although he had a great downfall he is still one of the most important minds of his time and our own. Truly he was a genius, and a visionary who sought out even farther than today's …show more content…
The small village of Smiljan is famous due to Nikola Tesla’s tremendous achievements. That's one piece of evidence that represents his great reach from one location to the next. Another example of his effect on the world would be that he is on the one hundred dinar bill in Serbia where he is a national hero. Most figures in any form of currency have affected many things in a country or even throughout the world. He affects the scientific world so much that the unit measure for magnetic flux density in the International System of Units is named tesla in his honor. He started as an electrical engineer in Budapest with big ideas and nowhere to take them. Then he thought of the induction motor. In Strasbourg, he built one of his motors and it worked, but no one in Europe was interested. Thomas Edison on the other hand was in fact …show more content…
In 1887, he found someone to fund his idea of using the AC electrical system. After working for just a year, he had several patents and the eye of a business mogul by the name of George Westinghouse. Westinghouse bought Tesla’s patents for $60,000 and their partnership was born. They faced Edison who held a negative press campaign against Tesla. Meanwhile, Nikola continued to work on more inventions such as the “Tesla coil” which we still use to this day in radio technology. Edison had lost to Tesla and Westinghouse who had been chosen to supply lighting at the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. At the exposition, Tesla showed how his AC system dominated the world of electricity. Two years later he installed one of the first AC hydroelectric power plants later used to power the city of Buffalo, New York. This feat is one of his greatest and most known, but he did have ideas that are not as well
