My goal for this project is to learn and create a cover of a song. A cover is a recording (audio or video) of a previously published song that is not sung by the singer of the original song. The final product should also include a score (a type of notation used usually by musical conductors to be able to see all the different parts played/sung by each instrument/vocalist in the band/choir) with the singing and instrumental parts written out on treble and bass clef so that both the vocals and instrumental parts can be seen. The fact that I have to learn how to do many things to complete this project makes it challenging. These skills that I must learn include:
• Using recording software – Recording software is what will be used to put together …show more content…
• Learning how to use the recording equipment – Good recording equipment used properly will produce the best sound possible, there needs to be a very good understanding of where to place the mic in relation to my mouth position because depending on the type of sound that I want the mic should be placed differently.
• Learning how to write score notation using a computer program – Creating a score allows me to keep track of what is happening in the vocals and at the same time what is happening in the piano part and if this is not done on a computer then there is a larger possibility that there will be an error.
• Learning about expression through singing – My global context is personal and cultural expression, therefore I want to be able to express my own side of the story or the song Elastic Heart, because I interpret the lyrics in a different way than others and I want to be able to express that story through my singing.
I will use a variety of sources to do so; teachers at school, online sources, students at the school, etc… I will also make sure that I include both primary and secondary
