a. Intimate distance extends from you outward to 18 inches (pg.74). It mostly occurs in private and it is used by people who are close to you, mostly to show affection or give comfort.
b. Personal distance ranges from 18 inches to 4 feet (pg.74). This distance is used to have friendly conversations, basically a nonintimate exchange.
