Installation

I can install a DNS server from the Control Panel or when promoting a member server to a domain controller (DC) (Figure A). During the promotion, if a DNS server is not found, you will have the option of installing it.

To install a DNS server from the Control Panel, follow these steps:

• From the Start menu, select | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Server Manager.

• Expand and click Roles (Figure 1).

• Choose Add Roles and follow the wizard by selecting the DNS role (Figure 2).

• Click Install to install DNS in Windows Server 2008 (Figure 3). Figure 1

Now enter the domain name that is (Cimsolution group)which has been choose during the preparation steps and then click the next option

8. After installation on the Set Forest Functional Level page, pick the Windows Server 2008 R2 option and click next option

9. On Additional Domain Controller Options page, make sure that DNS server check box is picked up and then click the next option

10. In message dialog box , click the yes option

11. On Location for Database, Log Files, and the SYSVOL option page, allow the default values and click the next option

12. On Directory Services Restore Mode Administrator Password page, fill domain administrator password that have been chosen. This is not the admin password which has emailed when creating the server. That password could be used again if you want to. Then click the next option

13. On Summary page, review the whole selections. Then click next, the installation begins

14. Click the Reboot on the completion check box to restart automatically after the installation is completed
