A Comparison of The Emancipation Proclamation and the Obergefell v. Hodges Ruling
There are periods in the history of the United States that the nation wishes it could forget, times when the country failed to stand by its own constitution and give all people the rights they deserve as citizens. Two specific times when the United States did this was with the equality for black African Americans and with the inequalities faced by Members of the LGBTQ+ community. America refused to protect the freedom of African Americans and hundreds of years later, it refused to grant equal rights to gay couples. However, both of these injustices were eventually righted.
