Some traits that Odysseus displays are strength, courage, selflessness, and many more. In my analysis of this humble fellow, I will give two examples of Odysseus, a modern day hero that relates to Odysseus. In the Odyssey, Odysseus is the hero, he is the hero because he saves his crew many times along with defeating the suitors that dared to steal his wife from him. Odysseus’s actions in the Cyclopes and Thelotus eaters demonstrate that he his dedicated and brave which are traits he has in common with Chris Kyle.
Odysseus and Kyle both demonstrate the ability to be brave. Throughout the epic Odysseus was brave, but one story that he was the most brave was “The Cyclops”. In this passage he wisely tricks and blinds the Cyclops, saving his crew from certain death. Odysseus and his men escaped the Cyclops tricking it after blinding its eye with a large pike. The example of Odysseus being brave shows that his actions were above and beyond what we expect of regular humans because we would never fight a Cyclops and the regular human would probably be to terrified to fight against the horrifying one eyed beast. Additionally, Chris Kyle demonstrated bravery when he risked his life for our freedom. The fact that Kyle risked his life for us indicates he is brave because he suffered many hardships such as post-traumatic stress disorder. He also had to face many terrorists and Taliban leaders on a regular basis. Chris Kyle is unlike any regular human, or soldier because he amassed 160 confirmed kills. Odysseus and Kyle’s actions are similar because they both risked their lives to saved the people they love. For example.
